Azure and Hetzner are actual June 2026 invoice lines for the same QA workload. AWS is modelled — the workload shape is derived from the Azure invoice and priced at eu-north-1 list rates, because we have no AWS bill for this cluster. Storage alone costs more on Azure than the entire Hetzner invoice.
Azure
€3,573AWS
€1,767Hetzner
€349The trade-off is real: this drops managed PaaS — AKS control plane, managed databases — for CAPI provisioning and self-managed tooling. That work is what the subscription above covers.
Azure figures are the CostUSD column of the June 2026 tenant cost export, filtered to the QA resource groups. Hetzner figures are only the lines whose hostname is qa-htz1-kilroy-eu* or bm-qa-htz1-kilroy-eu*, excluding one-off setup fees and shared resources that carry no cluster hostname. The control-plane nodes are cloud instances that CAPI rolls through the month — three are live at any moment.
